Why are you closed on Sundays?
By being closed on Sundays we make sure all our hard working employees get at least one day off. Also, this is a day we do maintenance work.

Do you make donations to fundraising events?
We haven't seen one group that we did not think was deserving of our support. In recognition of our desire and responsibility to help our community, we have decided that the outreach we would participate in is the donation of food to several food shelters. We do this on a weekly basis. There are other organizations we donate to, but those are ones the owners are personally involved in or as favors to very special friends.

We get so many requests every week to help out different organizations; it has become a very difficult decision on how to handle the many different appeals. It is time consuming and administratively challenging. Therefore, I am sorry to say that we do not donate food or gift certificates for fundraising events.

Thank you for thinking of us and good luck with your event.

Are you considering opening other locations?
We are always looking for good locations and we have received requests to open stores everywhere in southern California and in most places in the United States.

I am allergic to/cannot eat __________________________. a) Does your food contain any of that item?
b) Can you make the dish without __________________________?

(a) We thank you for the time you have taken to inquire if our food meets your dietary and/or allergy needs. In the past, we have gone to great lengths to try and answer these types of questions. However, as we analyze the logistics in providing guidance that can be relied upon, a number of issues arise: what if a supplier substitutes an item on us, either by mistake or necessity? What if we, or one of our manufacturers, changes recipes? What if one of our recipes is accidently not followed by one of our cooks? Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any of the above will not occur. Given our inability to absolutely guarantee an answer to a dietary/allergy question as well as our inability to absolutely guarantee the precision with which our food is prepared, we no longer offer official or unofficial guidance regarding food allergy, ingredient or dietary questions. We do not want to disappoint any guest by not being able to precisely and consistently execute representations made by us. Therefore, we make no representations or disclosures in regard to any food allergy, ingredient or dietary concerns. Our policy and disclaimer is this: anyone with an allergy or dietary concern who consumes our food does so at his/her own risk, regardless of what they perceive the ingredients to be and regardless of what any staff member, supervisor, management personnel and/or owner may say under any circumstances. Any guidance given by anyone affiliated with California Chicken Cafe, whether verbal, written, posted, etc., should not be relied upon under any circumstances. When it comes to these types of issues regarding one's health, being 99% sure of something just isn't good enough. Guest safety is of the utmost importance to us and we thank you for understanding. We wish you the best regarding your allergy and dietary needs.

(b) We make every effort to honor special requests from our guests. In fact, most of our orders are customized to one degree or another. No almonds, no bell peppers, no croutons, etc., are common, everyday requests that we are happy to fulfill. However, given the vast number of special requests and the volume of orders that we make on a daily basis, mistakes are bound to happen. In an effort to offer full disclosure and be honest with the realities of operating a restaurant like ours, we must let you know that we cannot guarantee anything will be made according to any specific instructions you give us. If we happen to make a mistake, we will of course be happy to remake the item(s) for you. Our main concern with modification requests, however, is allergy/dietary restrictions. For example, let's say a guest is highly allergic almonds. If this guest orders a Chinese Chicken Salad with no almonds, we will do our best to accommodate that request, but there are several things than could occur and have occurred in the past. The staff member making the salad could accidentally put almonds in the salad out of habit, the order taker could mistakenly forget to enter 'no almonds' on the order, almonds could have gotten into another item like the oranges, chicken, etc., or two orders could get mixed up, etc. When you make hundreds of meals every day, mistakes will and do happen. Therefore, if you are allergic to any ingredient found in any of our menu offerings or if you are allergic to an item that could conceivably find its way into our food (peanuts, other nuts, any fruit or vegetable, any spices, herbs, etc.) that could cause you any reaction ranging from mild to severe, consumption of food at our restaurant is at your own risk. We cannot guarantee that your food will be free of that ingredient. As stated earlier, when it comes to these types of issues regarding one's health, being 99% sure of something just isn't good enough. Guest safety is of the utmost importance to us and we thank you for understanding. We wish you the best regarding your allergy and dietary needs

Will you ship your food?
Due to the importance of maintaining proper food temperature to ensure safe food consumption, it is not practical to ship our food in the mail or any other means. Packing our food on dry ice would maintain proper temperature, but then the food would taste terrible. We apologize to our loyal, transplanted customers. Hopefully, someday we will be near to where you currently live.

Do you franchise?
We do not franchise at this time. We have looked into it in the past and we decided not to. We are always evaluating our options and it is something we may consider in the future. There are extensive legal and accounting requirements in order to franchise. For legal and logistic reasons, we do not maintain a list of prospective franchisees. If we ever do franchise, we will post it on our website.

Will you consider a franchise or joint venture in another state?
We have looked into this and considered it in the past. At this time we are not looking to expand in this manner. If we ever do, we will be soliciting opportunities on our website.

Do you sell gift cards?
We do not sell gift cards at this time, but it is something we are considering. There are many logistics in a gift card program that just aren’t practical for us at this time. When we do start a program, it will be advertised on our website and in the stores. Your desire to give the gift of California Chicken Cafe to a friend is a compliment we are very honored by, thank you.

Do you ever look for investors?
We are not looking for investors at this time and for legal and practical reasons we do not maintain a list.

Do you sell T-shirts, hats, or visors?
You can purchase these items at all the stores except the Melrose store. The manager must be present because we do keep them locked up. The cost is $10.00 each, including sales tax. The hats and visors come in one size. The shirts are available in M, L, and XL.

Do you have nutritional information on your food?
At this time we do not have nutritional information. We do get requests for the nutritional information and it is something we are considering. If we ever do get that information, it will be posted on our website.

Do you give out your recipes for your food?
We do receive recipe requests for the different items we make. Mostly we get this from people who used to live near one of our stores and have moved. Unfortunately we don't give out our recipes.
